Under-Sink Organizing Made Simple
The cabinet everyone ignores
There’s one space almost everyone avoids.
The cabinet under the sink.
It’s usually not a disaster — just a little chaotic. Random cleaners, half-used bottles, things shoved in the back because dealing with it feels annoying, not urgent.
But here’s something I see all the time as a professional organizer:
small chaos creates daily friction.
Every time you reach under there and feel irritated, rushed, or annoyed, it adds up more than we realize.
The good news? This space does not need to be Pinterest-perfect to be functional.
The mindset shift that actually helps
That cabinet doesn’t need to look pretty.
It just needs to work for you.
Under-sink spaces are tricky by nature — pipes, disposals, awkward heights. Trying to force perfection there is usually why people give up before they start.
One simple reset you can do in ten minutes
Even if you’re short on time, do this:
Pull everything out.
Toss what’s empty, expired, or you know you never reach for.
Put back only what you actually use.
That’s it.
No bins required.
No labeling marathon.
No expensive products.
Most of my clients are shocked by how much calmer their kitchen or bathroom feels just from fixing this one small, ignored space.
Common under-sink mistakes I see
Keeping duplicates “just in case”
Storing products you don’t like or don’t use
Shoving things in without ever resetting the space
If something constantly falls over or gets pushed to the back, that’s your sign it doesn’t belong there.
When bins do make sense
If you want to go one step further, shallow bins or small trays can help group categories like cleaning sprays, dishwasher pods, or backups.
But bins are a tool — not the solution.
Decluttering always comes first.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by your home, start here. One small win can change the energy of an entire space.
